May 24th – The Day of Bulgarian Alphabet and Culture

May 24th is the Day of Bulgarian Alphabet and Culture. Saints  Cyril and Methodius are celebrated on this day. They translated the Bible into the Slavic language and created the Glagolitic alphabet. In Bulgaria, this holiday is celebrated in every school and in every locality. In Sofia, the National Library is named after St. Cyril and Methodius, and in Veliko Tarnovo the University bears the same name.. Besides Bulgaria, the Saint Cyril and Methodius are celebarated  and in Belarus, Macedonia, Russia, Slovakia, Serbia, Ukraine, Croatia, Czechia and others.
